Club Profile

Weekly Sessions: 

The club offers weekly sessions on Saturdays at the John Keble Church, Church Close, Mill Hill, London, HA8 9NS. These sessions run every Saturday from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM

The weekly schedule includes:

  • 3:30–4:00 PM: Friendly games or completing class/homework
  • 4:00–4:30 PM: Group coaching by level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
  • 4:30–5:00 PM: Training games with specific goals (not rated)
  • 5:00–5:30 PM: Game review + explanation of new homework Limited to 20 students per session.

Who can join: 

The LCK Weekend Junior Chess Club is for children aged 5–18 years. Students are grouped by skill level: Beginner, Intermediate (600–1000 rating), and Advanced (1000+ rating).

How much does it cost: For the Saturday weekly sessions:

  • £15.00 per session.
  • A block booking of 10 sessions costs £150.00.
  • A single session can also be booked for £20.00.

Competitive Opportunities: 

The weekly Saturday club games are not rated, allowing children to experiment without pressure. However, students may bring in competition games for detailed analysis.

LCK also provides camps during the half-term holiday. Specifically, they offer Summer Half Term Chess Camp which includes a Tournament And Training Camp. This camp features 9 ECF-rated games over the course of the five days. Please, contact the club for more details.

Mission and Background:

The teaching philosophy follows a “backwards” model, beginning with checkmates, then exploring openings and tactical strategies, followed by a strong emphasis on endgames. The curriculum is based on the Step-by-Step Method, the Yusupov Training Series, and the renowned teachings of Grandmaster Ramesh RB.
